Job summary

AWE is seeking a Principal Engineering Manager to lead New Build Delivery, acting as Intelligent Client and Design Authority across nuclear and conventional programmes. You will guide engineering services, governance, and assurance to meet safety and regulatory standards.

The role requires strategic leadership of multidisciplinary teams, with a focus on design coordination, value delivery, and stakeholder engagement across complex facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in strategic programme delivery across large infrastructure or new build projects.
• Design coordination of mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) building services.
• Experience with NEC4 as client or lead contractor.
• Strong governance and safety standards understanding.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for intelligent client and design authority across new build programmes.
• Governance: ensure compliance with Nuclear Licence Conditions and safety standards.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and manage stakeholder communication at all levels.
• Apply modern design for manufacture and integrated digital design principles.
