Job summary

AWE is seeking a Compliance and Nuclear Safety Lead in Aldermaston, to enable safe, compliant delivery and ensure assets remain credible over the short to long term. You will own regulatory interpretation and provide authoritative advice to senior leadership.

You will lead the development and maintenance of nuclear safety justifications, manage safety cases, and coordinate regulators, ensuring on-site operations meet nuclear, environmental, health, safety, security, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of Nuclear Safety justifications for the Business Unit.
• Ensure safety cases remain current and aligned to operations and planned change.
• Advise leadership on safety case adequacy, margins, and limitations.
• Lead compliance against Nuclear Site Licence Conditions and environmental permits.
• Provide assurance that operations meet nuclear, environmental, health, safety, and quality requirements.
• Engage regulators and maintain governance across safety, engineering, and assurance.
