Job summary

AECOM's Leeds Streets team is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the design and delivery of active travel, public transport, traffic engineering and urban realm projects across Leeds and beyond. You’ll shape safer, greener networks while collaborating with clients, stakeholders and a multidisciplinary team.

You’ll manage schemes from concept to detailed design, mentor graduates, engage with clients, and ensure on-time, high-quality outputs with robust health and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in concept, preliminary and detailed design of Active Travel and traffic schemes.
• Strong knowledge of drainage, junctions and carriageway improvements.
• Familiarity with TSRGD, Manual for Streets, DMRB and Traffic Signs Manual.
• Understanding of Health & Safety and CDM regulations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and delivery of active travel, public transport and urban realm schemes.
• Prepare and review technical outputs including drawings, reports and specifications.
• Deliver work in accordance with briefs, design standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams within AECOM and with stakeholders.
• Delegate and coordinate tasks for graduates and technicians, supporting their development.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and quality standards.
• Champion Health & Safety best practices, including CDM responsibilities.
• Report progress and risks to the Principal Engineer or Project Manager.
• Lead scoping, concept, preliminary and detailed design of active travel schemes.
• Apply knowledge of design standards such as LTN 1/20, TSRGD, MFS, DMRB.
