About the Role

Groundforce Shorco (GFS) is currently looking to add to our technical development team through the appointment of a Senior or Principal Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineer (or other background provided they have relevant experience in structural design, analysis or materials performance). This is a chance to join a small, collaborative team, supporting the research and delivery of a variety of engineering projects as part of GFS's continued approach to engineering excellence and ensuring GFS remains the market leader in its industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive day‑to‑day operation of the team and contribute to supervision, training and mentoring of other engineers.
• Carry out and/or check structural calculations for new bespoke and fleeted products in accordance with BS5950, EN1993 and EN1999.
• Produce fabrication drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Support our temporary bridging team by checking designs in a timely manner in accordance with approved codes of practice.
• Perform structural verification of the bridge based on the applied traffic loading and 2D drawings produced using AutoCAD.
• Liaise with and assist the Core Shoring and Major Projects teams, when needed, to support with their engineering requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 3 years post‑graduate experience (Senior Engineer) or 5 years (Principal Engineer) ideally in a temporary works environment.
• Graduated with a minimum of a 2:1 degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering (BSc, BEng or MEng) or other engineering.
• Working towards, or have CEng or IEng status (MICE).
• Solid experience of Structural and stress mechanics (Required) and Engineering mathematics (Required).
• Required knowledge of EN1993, EN1992, EN1997 & EN1999.

Technical Skills

• Microsoft Office, in particular Excel (Required).
• Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor/Solidworks or similar (Required).
• Geosolve WALLAP, CADS Piled Wall Suite and CADS A3D Max (Desirable).
• Tekla Tedds and/or Structural Designer, Autodesk Nastran stress analysis software (Desirable).
