Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a Senior Engineer - Drainage and Water to join Kier Design in Exeter, Ipswich, or Salford. The role offers technical autonomy across sectors and a chance to lead design work with a multi-disciplinary team.

You will manage deliverables, mentor early-career engineers, and contribute to continuous improvement while travelling as required and holding a full driving licence.

• Holder of a full driving licence and willing to travel.

Responsibilities

• Acting as design lead for assigned work packages, managing technical risks and contributing to quality assurance and design reviews.
• Managing day-to-day delivery of work packages, ensuring programme, budget, and risk commitments are met.
• Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners to support integrated design delivery.
• Providing line management and mentoring to early-career engineers, contributing to technical development and knowledge sharing.
• Supporting continuous improvement of team practices, standards, and delivery quality.

Job description

We're looking for a Senior Engineer - Drainage and Water to join our Kier Design team based in Exeter, Ipswich, or Salford. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.

Location: Exeter, Ipswich, or Salford Hours: 40 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us. We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role

Experienced in delivering Drainage & Water design packages with technical autonomy across sectors such as Building & Development, Transportation, Water Utilities, or Flood & Water Management Skilled in managing technical delivery of work packages, including programme awareness, cost control, and proactive risk management Able to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and engage effectively with stakeholders Capable of producing and reviewing high-quality, compliant
engineering outputs in line with relevant standards and regulations Holder of a full driving licence and willing to travel as required

What will you be responsible for? As a Senior Engineer - Drainage and Water, you'll be working within the Design team, supporting them in delivering high-quality, compliant, and sustainable drainage and water solutions across a range of exciting projects.
