Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Graduate Hydraulic Modeller to join Kier Design, based in one of our design offices across Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Norwich or Salford. Starting salary is £31,000 per annum, with a 2‑year programme leading to an assistant level role and salary potential around £38k.

• ICE-accredited Civil Engineering degree or closely related discipline.

• Assisting with tender and bid-winning support, including outline design schemes and feasibility studies.
• Supporting the development of alternative solutions and value engineering.

Location: Based out of either Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Norwich or Salford

Hours: 40 hours per week

Starting Salary: £31,000 per annum

Pathway:Permanent, Full-time 2-year programme, leading to assistant level role upon completion with salary potential of CIRCA £38k

This is a truly exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial individual to join our growing team and deliver some of the best water projects within a fully integrated design and build delivery model. As a Graduate Hydraulic Modeller, you'll assist in developing and reviewing options and designs for our water sector clients. You'll enrol on Kier's Graduate Development Programme and benefit from industry-leading technical training, rotations across different areas of the design business, a site secondment, and mentorship to support your professional qualification. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience and develop a strong foundation in hydraulic modelling and water management.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Graduate Hydraulic Modeller, you'll be working within the Hydraulic Modelling team, supporting them in delivering innovative design solutions for water sector projects. Your day to day will include:

• Contributing to the design and checking of permanent and temporary design solutions
• Assisting with tender and bid‑winning support, including outline design schemes and feasibility studies

• Conducting site visits, surveys and inspections

We're looking for people due to graduate in 2027, or have recently graduated within the past three years, with a degree in Civil Engineering. Thisrole of Graduate Hydraulic Modeller is great for you if you:

• Hold a degree (or are working towards a degree) which is ICE accredited in Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline
• Demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in civil engineering and the construction industry, with clear motivation to learn and develop professionally
• Have analytical and critical thinking skills to assess situations and problem solve with strong attention to detail
• Work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating collaboration, reliability, and respect for others
• Hold a Full driving licence
