Job summary

Talent Link Ltd in London seeks an experienced Senior Engineer to lead setting out and supervision on a large-scale water and bridge remediation project. You will oversee pre-construction activities, risk management, and quality for multi-disciplinary teams.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent), CSCS/SMSTS, and strong leadership with a track record in highways, bridges, and trunk sewer works. Experience with NEC contract conditions is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven setting out on civil projects including highways and infrastructure.

• CDM, Design Management, and risk management knowledge.
• Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• CSCS and SMSTS, Confined Space training.

Responsibilities

• Supervise site engineers and trainees and mentor the team.
• Develop efficient work methods and procurement schedules.
• Prepare ITPs, QMPs, and brief site teams before delivery.
• Prepare method statements and organize toolbox talks.
• Produce monthly reports and chair site meetings.
• Maximise commercial performance and manage variations.
• Maintain construction programme and look-ahead planning.

Job description

An established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join their team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a complex, large-scale water and structures project from conception through to delivery, working on the repair and remediation of bridge structures and trunk sewer barrels across both rail and road spans.

Responsibilities for Senior Engineer:

• Establish level and survey control for contracts and oversee daily setting out activities
• Be present for critical setting out activities and ensure checks are carried out regularly
• Supervise and mentor site engineers and trainees across the region
• Assist the Sub Agent in developing efficient work methods and techniques
• Undertake pre-start material take-offs and populate procurement schedules
• Compile ITPs and Quality Management Plans and brief site teams before delivery
• Carry out instrumental checks and complete quality audit records
• Prepare and issue method statements and organise toolbox talks
• Manage preconstruction review process ensuring all stakeholder consents and permits are in place
• Produce accurate monthly reports and chair weekly site meetings
• Maximise commercial performance and ensure variations are notified and quantified
• Maintain construction programme and produce short-term look-aheads

Essential Requirements for Senior Engineer:

• Proven experience in setting out on civil engineering projects including highways, infrastructure, and reinforced concrete works
• Experience in the civil and water sectors including bridge structures and sewer/trunk main works
• Working knowledge of NEC contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, and Programme and Risk Management
• Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• CSCS card and SMSTS
• Confined Space training
• Experience using AutoCAD
• Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead on technically challenging solutions
