Job summary

Caterpillar is hiring a Senior Design Engineer in Peterborough, UK. You will join the Component Engineering Base Engine Team to design and develop engine components and provide systems input (breather, cooling, lubrication).

This role requires leading tasks, coordinating with global sites and suppliers, and delivering robust engineering solutions. You will apply CREO10 CAD expertise, participate in FMEA-driven risk assessments, and support APQP-driven design reviews.

Qualifications

• Expert level CREO10 CAD geometry.
• Minimum 6 years CAD design experience in engines.
• Strong understanding of rotating systems, valvetrain, lubrication, cooling and bolted joints.

Responsibilities

• Design and package engine components (aluminium & cast iron castings, geartrain, valvetrain).
• Input to system design development for breather, cooling, FEAD & lubrication systems.
• Collaborate with global teams to meet durability and functional requirements.
• Develop relationships with suppliers.
• Plan and manage project and sub-project deliverables; lead.
• Conduct risk assessment with FMEA and determine validation needs.
• Generate and conduct design reviews for wider approval.
• Maintain communication with peers, team leader and stakeholders on progress.
• Develop drawings to Caterpillar standards for prototype and production.
• Work with suppliers using APQP methodology and tools.
