Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Peterborough, UK, is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the design and development of low-pressure fuel systems for next-generation engines.

You will work with a small, global team of engineers, suppliers and production facilities to deliver production-ready solutions from concept to reality. The role emphasizes technical excellence, cross-functional collaboration and the drive to improve performance, quality and reliability of fuel systems across applications.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Low-Pressure Diesel Fuel Systems and components.
• Advises others on assessment and provision of technical solutions.
• Mentors others to enhance technical competence and apply solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead specification and development of new low-pressure fuel system components including Fuel Filters, Priming Pumps, Fuel Coolers & Fuel Transfer Lines for NPI.
• Collaborate with fuel system & filtration technology suppliers to align on functional requirements and develop solutions.
• Plan and deliver fuel system development projects to time, cost and quality targets.
• Assess technical risk through FMEA; coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R).
• Investigate and resolve complex technical system issues using 8D methodology.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews with manufacturing, quality and purchasing to deliver production-ready designs.
• Assess fuel system performance via engine and/or rig bench testing.
