Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Peterborough, UK, seeks a Low-Pressure Fuel Systems Senior Engineer to lead development of fuel system components for next‑gen engines.

The role collaborates with global engineers, suppliers and production facilities to drive design from concept to production with emphasis on performance, quality and reliability. The role requires delivering projects on time and within cost, leading risk assessments and supporting a production‑worthy fuel system design.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Low-Pressure Diesel Fuel Systems and associated components.
• Advises others on the assessment and provision of all technical solutions.
• Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead specification and development of new low-pressure fuel system components including; Fuel Filters, Priming Pumps, Fuel Coolers & Fuel Transfer Lines to meet New Product Introduction (NPI) Requirements.
• Collaborate with fuel system & filtration technology suppliers to align on functional performance requirements and to develop component & system solutions.
• Plan and deliver fuel system/component development projects to time, cost and quality requirements.
• Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R).
• Investigate and resolve complex technical system issues using 8D methodology.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews with manufacturing, quality and purchasing teams to deliver a production worthy fuel system design.
• Assess fuel system performance via engine and / or rig bench testing.
