Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Emergency Practitioner (Band 7) to join the Emergency Department and Medical division. You will work as an autonomous practitioner with responsibilities across Gloucester and Cheltenham EDs, including the Nurse Led Service at Cheltenham General Hospital, and contribute to delivering safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Registered with NMC or HCPC and hold current professional registration.
• Degree in nursing, paramedics or physiotherapy is required.
• Non-Medical Independent Prescribing qualification is desirable.
• Must hold Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Work as an autonomous practitioner in ED/urgent care ensuring high-quality care.
• Provide clinical leadership and support to junior staff in Cheltenham ED overnight.
• Assess, diagnose, treat, and decide on discharge or referral for patients with minor injuries/illness.
• Use Sunrise EPMS and interpret investigations such as X-Rays and pathology results.
