Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an Emergency Practitioner to the Emergency Department and Medical Division on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. The role involves a 24-hour clinical care rota, cross-site working, and caring for patients with minor injuries and illnesses.

You must be registered (NMC/HCPC) with ALS and Paediatric Life Support; prescriber rights or PG directives are desirable.

Qualifications

• APICA course or equivalent.
• NMC/HCPC registration.
• Experience of working in an ED.
• Advanced Life Support qualification; Paediatric Life Support qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with service delivery within the Emergency Department and Medical division.
• Work a 24-hour clinical care rota to promote safety and quality care.
• Provide direct clinical care as an independent practitioner for patients with minor injuries/illness.
• Maintain professional standards and registrations (NMC/HCPC).

Job description

Highly visible, accessible, authoritative and influential figure on whom staff, patients, families and carers can rely, to ensure the fundamentals of care are delivered effectively and efficiently. Additional contract details: Fixed term covering maternity leave- 12 months Additional working pattern details: Will involve shift work and cross site working, The Emergency Practitioner will be registered healthcare professional from a nursing, paramedic or physiotherapy background. They will hold experience and skills in minor injuries and or illness. They are maybe a prescriber or have the capability to use our extensive patient group directives. The Emergency Practitioner will be responsible to the Non-Medical Consultant or their nominated deputy and assist with service delivery within the Emergency Department and Medical division. The role incorporates a 24-hour clinical care rota promoting safety and quality care to those who present to the Emergency Department. The post holder will be a role model and support direct clinical care by working as an independent practitioner to patients who present with minor injuries and minor illness. The post holder is required to hold a professional registration with the NMC or HCPC and maintain standards in accordance.
