Rapiscan Systems, Inc. in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a Senior Electronics Technician to bring electronic designs to life across our scanning systems.

You will work with engineers and cross-functional teams to support the full product lifecycle—from concept and prototyping through to production and continuous improvement. You will design and prototype electronics, develop test plans, create CAD drawings and BOMs, and maintain the electronics lab while collaborating with suppliers.

Qualifications

• BTEC Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent in Electronic/Electrical Engineering.
• Strong soldering and cable assembly experience.
• Experience with test equipment.
• Experience with PCB software such as Altium.

Role Overview

As a Senior Electronics Technician, you will play a key role in bringing electronic designs to life across our scanning systems. Working closely with engineers and cross-functional teams, you will support the full product lifecycle—from concept and prototyping through to production and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

Design & Prototyping

• Build and validate electronic prototypes
• Create PCB layouts from schematics
• Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers
• Develop 3D-printed components where required

Testing & Validation

• Develop and execute test plans
• Use equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters

Documentation & Support

• Produce CAD drawings and BOMs
• Support production, commissioning, and field service
• Contribute to product improvements

Lab & Infrastructure

• Maintain the electronics lab and test equipment
• Manage component libraries and PCB data

Qualifications

• BTEC Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Electronic/Electrical Engineering
• Strong soldering and cable assembly experience
• Experience with test equipment
• Experience with PCB software (e.g. Altium)

Desirable

• Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering
• Experience in manufacturing or PCB environments
• Knowledge of embedded systems, microprocessors, FPGAs
• 5+ years’ relevant experience
