Job summary

Rapiscan Systems in the United Kingdom is seeking a practical assembler to support the production of cargo security systems. You will build and wire mechanical and pneumatic sub-systems and sub-assemblies, following drawings and specifications.

Key tasks include routing wires, mounting electrical components, crimping, and wiring accessories, plus performing functional tests to ensure quality and ISO compliance. Cat5 cabling and 240V/415V experience are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Routes, wires, assembles and installs electrical and electronic components in mobile truck systems and fixed/gantry rail systems per specifications using jig boards and hand/power tools.
• Reads drawings and, on occasions, schematics to determine assembly methods.
• Cuts wire to specified lengths and sleeving; crimps terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends.
• Connects wiring to relays, circuit breakers, plugs, switches and solenoids; installs accessory assemblies.
• Conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies and wire harnesses using testing instruments.
• Supports ISO standards and handles 240v/415v wiring; Cat5 cabling is advantageous.

Role Overview

Contributes to the production of all Cargo security systems and support the build of various mechanical, pneumatic sub-systems and component sub-assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Routes, wires, assembles and installs electrical and electronic components in a mobile truck system and fixed or gantry rail systems, such as main junction and terminal boxes, main control switch panels and CCTV cameras, according to specifications, using jig boards, hand tools/power tools, (drills, etc.) and other equipment: Reads drawings and on occasions, schematics to specifications, to determine established assembly methods.
• Cuts wire to specified lengths, using wire cutters.
• Cuts plastic sleeves and slips sleeves over wire ends to insulate connections.
• Crimps terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping device.
• Routes, ties and attaches wire to terminal points, according to layout, using hand tools.
• Connects wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, switches and solenoids and installs accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units, using hand tools.
• Conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using ohmmeter, test lights and other electrical testing instruments.
• Working with 240v and 415v experience, also working with Cat5 cable would be advantageous.
• Works to support the ISO standards.
