Job summary

Safran Electrical & Power in the UK seeks a Principal Electro-Mechanical Engineer to drive technical and economic performance of product families through the life cycle. You will guide design and technical reviews, align roadmaps with R&T, and serve as the main contact for mechanical design and rotating electric machines.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering, plus experience in rotating machinery, airworthiness regulations, and strong project leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
• Experience with rotating machinery design, ideally electric machines.
• Understand airworthiness requirements (EASA/FAA/RTCA).
• Strong knowledge of product development processes.
• Experience leading NPI projects with budget responsibility.
• Knowledge of design cost, DFM/DFMA principles.
• Proficiency with Catia V5, Windchill and Integrity.
• Excellent written English.

Responsibilities

• Achieve technical and economic objectives across the product life cycle.
• Ensure the product meets customer requirements throughout its life cycle.
• Analyze market trends, consumer needs and competition to keep products market-leading.
• Develop and maintain product roadmaps with the R&T team.
• Lead and chair design and technical reviews to ensure First Time Right design.
• Validate tender compliance to product policy during bid phase.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing costs.
