Job Description

Senior Project Manager (Electrical)

Location: Northamptonshire

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Our client is a fast growing and ambitious Electrical Contracting Business

This company specialises in delivering high-quality commercial, industrial and high-end residential projects across the region.

As the business continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead their project delivery team. This is a hands-on leadership role that offers the opportunity to make a real impact within a successful SME, taking ownership of projects from handover through to final account.

The Role:

As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple electrical installation projects valued between £50,000 and £500,000+, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Working across both the office and project sites, you'll play a key role in planning, problem-solving and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors and site teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Delivery

  • Manage multiple electrical installation projects from handover to completion.
  • Develop and maintain project programmes using Gantt charts or MS Project.
  • Coordinate site supervisors, electricians, apprentices and specialist subcontractors.
  • Plan procurement activities and manage material deliveries to meet programme requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively resolve issues to maintain programme.

Commercial Management

  • Take full responsibility for the financial performance of your projects.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, valuations and cash flow.
  • Identify, price and negotiate project variations.
  • Approve subcontractor payments and manage final account negotiations.
  • Work closely with estimating and accounts to maximise project profitability.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, main contractors, consultants and design teams.
  • Attend progress meetings and provide clear project updates.
  • Build long-term client relationships that generate repeat business.
  • Resolve technical and commercial issues professionally and efficiently.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Ensure all projects comply with current Health & Safety legislation and BS7671 regulations.
  • Produce, review and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Carry out regular site inspections and safety audits.
  • Promote a positive safety culture across all project teams.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a growing business where no two days are the same. You'll be equally comfortable reviewing project costs in the office as you are supporting teams on site and solving problems firsthand.

You will have:

  • Over 5 years' experience managing electrical installation projects.
  • A background within the electrical contracting industry.
  • Previous experience as a qualified electrician (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2391 or similar) or an Electrical Engineering background is highly desirable.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • ECS/CSCS Black Manager Card.
  • Strong knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills.
  • Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.

Desirable:

  • PRINCE2, APM or equivalent project management qualification.

Why join our client?

This is an opportunity to become a key member of a growing, ambitious business where your experience will directly influence project success and company growth.

We offer:

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Opportunity to lead diverse and technically challenging projects.
  • A supportive, collaborative working environment.
  • Genuine opportunity to influence the future direction of the business.
  • Long-term career development within an expanding company.
