Job summary
SSEN Transmission is seeking a highly experienced engineer based in Scotland to lead the Technical Authority for transmission wound plant, including grid transformers, HVDC transformers, shunt/series reactors and earthing/auxiliary transformers.
In this role you will write, review and own technical specifications, witness testing, perform audits and provide expert input to design reviews and industry groups.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering and Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Expert-level experience in design, specification and application of transmission wound plant.
Responsibilities
- Write, maintain and own technical specifications for electrical wound plant on the Transmission network.
- Review existing specifications and update them based on project lessons and developments in technology.
- As part of the Technical Authority, review test plans to ensure technology and equipment are tested, proven and validated, and review proposed suppliers for suitability.
- Witness testing of transformers, carry out technical audits of manufacturing facilities and provide SME input to design reviews.
- Provide technical consultancy across SSEN Transmission and represent SSEN Transmission at industry body events.
