Job summary

WSP in London seeks an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead data centre electrical design within the Mission Critical Facilities team. You’ll develop concept designs for EHV to LV, coordinate with architects and structural engineers, and deliver compliant technical specifications for cutting-edge projects.

Qualifications

• Chartered status with CIBSE or IET (or working towards Chartered status) or equivalent experience.
• Technical knowledge of relevant UK & EU regulations, design guides, etc.
• IT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages i.e. Trimble (formally Amtech).
• An understanding of the ETAP software package for HV modelling (Fault current, current flow & harmonics).
• An understanding of the Neher-McGrath method of calculating underground cable temperatures & ampacity.
• An understanding of the Tier classifications as defined by The Uptime institute, TIA942 and EN50600.
• Able to work as part of a team as well as ability to effectively lead, direct and mentor individuals.
• Have understanding of working with RevitMEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.
• Have working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual designs for electrical distribution systems from EHV, HV, MV to LV.
• Provide client advice on electrical systems to meet business needs.
• Lead the design of data centre electrical systems and equipment.
• Produce design development notes and system option reports.
• Create technical specifications ensuring compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Coordinate with Architects and Structural Engineers.
• Produce tender documentation and equipment specifications.
• Monitor installation to ensure compliance with employers’ requirements and safety codes.
• Engage with clients in discussions to align requirements; work both independently and within the WSP project team.
