Job summary

Stantec in the United Kingdom is seeking an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to join a growing team focused on biodiversity across major infrastructure projects. You will work with our Principal Ecologist on a varied portfolio, conduct surveys, design mitigation, and contribute to licences, with strong links to water utility partnerships.

At the senior level you will mentor junior ecologists, have autonomy, and access training. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum BSc in Ecology or a related environmental discipline.
• Solid consultancy experience and knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation.
• Experience preparing PEAs, ECIAs and ecological chapters; HRAs and Defra Biodiversity Metric.
• Holder of a protected species survey licence for at least one species.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; able to manage projects and client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveys and assessments across a diverse project portfolio.
• Design and implement mitigation and enhancement measures.
• Prepare licences for protected species.
• Contribute ecological input to multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor junior ecologists and develop talent.
