Job summary

Stantec in the United Kingdom is seeking an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to join our growing Ecology Team. You will work with our Principal Ecologist on a varied portfolio, conducting surveys, assessments, mitigation design and protected species licensing within multi-disciplinary projects.

You will mentor junior ecologists, have autonomy in delivery, and travel as needed. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum BSc in Ecology or related environmental discipline.
• Solid consultancy experience with UK/EU wildlife legislation and policy.
• Protected species survey licence for at least one species (e.g., bats or great crested newts).
• Ability to manage projects, budgets and client relationships; field-ready.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveys, assessments and mitigation design across sectors.
• Apply for and obtain protected species licences.
• Mentor junior ecologists and contribute to team growth.
• Collaborate with planning, engineering and design colleagues.
