Job summary

isepglobal is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join its North East team in Newcastle, delivering ecological expertise across a varied portfolio from planning through to delivery and long‑term environmental management. The role involves EcIA, PEA, biodiversity net gain assessments, protected species surveys, and habitat condition surveys within a supportive, hybrid consultancy environment.

  • Practical field survey experience and knowledge of UK wildlife legislation.
  • Strong report writing skills with attention to detail.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • A proactive, organised approach and a genuine enthusiasm for ecology.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs).
  • Delivering Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs).
  • Supporting Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and strategies.
  • Carrying out protected species surveys (such as bats, great crested newts, birds, and reptiles).
  • Conducting habitat surveys and condition assessments.
  • Assisting in the preparation of mitigation, enhancement, and long‑term management plans.

Senior Ecologist - Newcastle

An established and progressive environmental consultancy is seeking an Ecologist to join its expanding team in the North East. This role offers the chance to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting developments from initial planning stages through to implementation and ongoing environmental management.

The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team delivering ecological expertise across a variety of sectors. Project work spans residential and mixed-use developments, major infrastructure, renewable energy schemes, green infrastructure, and large-scale habitat and nature recovery initiatives.
