Lead Careers Ltd is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our ecology team in the North East with flexible working options across the UK. You will manage projects and provide technical ecological advice, undertaking assessments, habitat surveys and protected species surveys while developing mitigation strategies.

The role requires experience in UK ecological consultancy, strong reporting skills, and knowledge of wildlife legislation.

• Relevant degree in ecology, biology, environmental science or related discipline.

• Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning system.
• Experience undertaking habitat and protected species surveys.
• Experience preparing ecological reports.

• Strong report writing skills.

Responsabilidades

• Manage own projects and provide technical ecological advice to clients and project teams.
• Carry out Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Ecological Impact Assessments.
• Conduct habitat surveys and protected species surveys.
• Prepare technical reports to support planning applications.
• Develop mitigation, compensation and enhancement strategies.
• Support protected species licence applications.
• Carry out Ecological Clerk of Works duties as required.
• Manage projects, programmes and client relationships.
• Liaise with clients and other professionals.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Review technical work to maintain high quality standards.

Role – Senior Ecologist

Salary – £38 - £42K

Location – North East/Flexible

An established environmental consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Ecologist to join its growing ecology team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Ecologist who is ready to take greater responsibility for their own projects while continuing to develop their technical expertise within a supportive consultancy environment. The company works across a broad range of development and environmental projects, providing ecological advice from initial site assessment and planning through to mitigation, licensing and delivery on site.

THE ROLE

• As a Senior Ecologist, you will manage your own projects and provide technical ecological advice to clients and wider project teams.
• Responsibilities will include:
• Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Ecological Impact Assessments
• Habitat surveys and assessments
• Protected species surveys
• Biodiversity Net Gain assessments
• Preparing technical reports to support planning applications
• Developing mitigation, compensation and enhancement strategies
• Supporting protected species licence applications
• Ecological Clerk of Works duties where required
• Managing projects, programmes and client relationships
• Liaising with clients and other environmental and development professionals
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
• Reviewing technical work and helping maintain high quality standards

ABOUT YOU

• You will have good experience within UK ecological consultancy and be comfortable taking responsibility for projects with increasing independence.
• Ideally, you will have:
• A relevant degree in ecology, biology, environmental science or a related discipline
• Experience working within UK ecological consultancy
• Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and the planning system
• Experience undertaking habitat and protected species surveys
• Experience preparing ecological reports
• Knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain
• Strong technical report writing skills
• Good client communication and project management skills
• Membership of CIEEM
• Full UK driving licence
• Protected species licences would be advantageous

• Salary £35,000–£42,000
