Job summary

SYSTRA UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior/Principal Engineer to lead drainage design for highway and development schemes. You will guide feasibility through to detailed design, manage budgets and resources, and represent the business to clients. The role emphasises leadership, technical excellence, and collaboration across disciplines.

You will contribute to team growth, win projects, and drive performance while operating within our hybrid-working model and robust health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in delivering surface/waste water drainage design and approval processes.
• Knowledge of Sewers for Adoption, Sewers for Scotland and design guides (DMRB, MfS, Local Authority guides).
• Experience in drainage design on major and minor projects with good design principles.
• Ability to mentor and supervise junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the financial, technical and project management control of drainage aspects.
• Delegate to and direct engineers and technicians on projects.
• Develop and supervise junior engineers in the team.
• Prepare technical outputs and co-ordinate with other disciplines.
