Job summary

Russell Taylor Group is seeking a Lead Document Controller for Wolverhampton or Warrington, offering hybrid working and a competitive salary. You will own document control across complex engineering projects, act as SME, and lead a team of document controllers.

Reporting to the Projects Delivery Director, you will manage receipt, issue, distribution and approval of documentation, set up DMS systems like Autodesk Vault, and ensure audit trails and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in document control within engineering, manufacturing or turnkey projects.
• Experience using Autodesk Vault or a comparable DMS.
• Strong understanding of technical documentation and revision control.
• Experience maintaining auditable records and working to quality procedures.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Project Document Control: manage receipt, issue, distribution, review and approval of project documentation.
• Document Management Systems: set up and maintain project systems (Autodesk Vault or similar).
• Engineering Documentation: manage technical docs, drawings, revision control and transmittals.
• Compliance and Quality: ensure teams follow procedures and contractual requirements; conduct spot audits.
• Client Systems: coordinate documentation through client systems alongside primary system.
• Team Leadership: provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring and workload management.
• Continuous Improvement: review procedures and implement approved improvements.
• Project Support: assist with documentation tracking, packs, meetings and admin requirements.
