Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a District Nurse (Specialist Practitioner) to provide professional leadership and expert district nursing care in community settings in Glasgow. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, coordinate care, and deliver high-quality, person-centred services to adults in patients’ homes.

The role requires autonomous clinical decision-making, advanced assessment skills, and prescriber qualifications; 24/7 community nursing service delivery is expected

Qualifications

• Current registration with NMC
• SPQ Advancing Practice in District Nursing (level 11 Masters Level)
• V300 Independent Prescribing & Advanced Clinical Assessment
• Ability to demonstrate leadership and management competencies
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• IT skills—word processing/email/internet
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work to challenging deadlines
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Problem-solving skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Previous experience in primary care/community setting

Responsibilities

• The post holder will provide an accessible, appropriate, high quality, culturally sensitive and effective nursing service to all age groups in the community, by working in partnership with service users, care providers and other agencies.
• The post holder will function as an independent autonomous practitioner by virtue of in-depth knowledge, expertise, proficiency and experience to support and enable the district nursing team to provide a quality nursing service.
• The post holder will be a registered nurse with specialist district nursing qualification who supports in delivering care to patients within the caseload in Out of Hours period.
• The post holder will be responsible for providing skilled nursing interventions for patients within the caseload.
• The post holder will coordinate workload and delegate work to other staff, and provide support to other members of district nursing team.
• The District Nursing service operates an open access policy that is available 365-days a year. The service does not operate a waiting list; however, care needs are prioritised to be able to respond to both planned and unplanned care. This includes the ability to respond timeously to unscheduled care requests for those patients who require urgent district nursing intervention.
