Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is recruiting a District Nurse (Specialist Practitioner) to provide leadership and expert clinical care within the District Nursing Service for adults in community settings.

The post holder will oversee a multidisciplinary team, coordinate caseloads, and perform nurse prescribing within scope, including out-of-hours care. A live NMC pin is required.

Qualifications

• Current registration with NMC
• SPQ Advancing Practice in District Nursing (level 11 – Masters Level)
• V300 Independent Prescribing & Advanced Clinical Assessment
• Ability to demonstrate leadership and management competencies
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• IT skills - word processing, email, internet
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work to challenging deadlines
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Problem-solving skills
• Ability to work as part of a team; Previous experience in primary care/community setting

Responsibilities

• Provide accessible, high-quality nursing services to all age groups in the community, partnering with service users and carers.
• Function as an autonomous practitioner with in-depth knowledge and experience to support the district nursing team.
• Lead and supervise district nursing staff to deliver care within caseloads, including out-of-hours coverage.
• Coordinate workload, delegate tasks, and provide support to team members.
• Operate an open-access service 365 days a year with prioritised care for urgent needs.
