Job summary

NECSWS is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join a nationwide, hybrid team. You’ll own cloud infrastructure from provisioning to day-to-day operations, collaborating with a Solutions Architect on major changes.

Your work will span across national public service systems, ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions. You’ll use Infrastructure as Code by default, keep CI/CD fast and reliable, monitor environments, and stay curious to adopt better practices.

Qualifications

• Several years running cloud infrastructure in production on AWS.
• Experience with Azure is a bonus.
• Knowledge of Terraform beyond the basics; you’ve managed complex estates, written reusable modules, and worked across multiple environments.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and ArgoCD in a production context.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of cloud infrastructure from provisioning through day-to-day operations, working closely with our Solutions Architect on significant changes.
• Use Infrastructure as Code as the default for everything, maintaining and improving our setup as the infrastructure evolves.
• Keep our CI/CD pipelines fast and reliable. When something breaks or slows down, you investigate and fix it properly rather than patching around it.
• Monitor environments to track performance, uptime, and resource usage. Responding and troubleshooting any issues that might arise.
• Stay curious about what is happening in the industry. If there is a better way to do something, we want to hear about it. Bring ideas, run spikes and make the case. We’re open to changing how we work when there is a good reason to.
• Work closely with wider teams to understand needs and provide DevOps solutions.
