Job summary

Square One Resources Limited is seeking a Senior DevOps/Automation Engineer to join a strategic automation and DevOps modernisation programme in a large enterprise. The role focuses on designing and implementing production-grade automation across IBM Z mainframe and distributed platforms with modern DevOps tech to improve CI/CD, security and observability.

The candidate will bring extensive enterprise DevOps experience, strong Python skills and hands-on IBM Z experience, delivering secure,

Qualifications

Extensive enterprise DevOps experience including design, implementation, governance and best practices.
IBM Z environment experience is essential.
Strong Python development skills with modular design, testing, logging and error handling.
Extensive experience with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) in enterprise environments.
Strong Jenkins pipeline development experience, including Groovy.
Practical experience with GitHub and CI/CD pipelines, release management.
Experience with PostgreSQL design, queries and data management.
Hands-on Vault for secrets management in enterprise contexts.
Experience building Grafana dashboards and integrating monitoring/observability tools.
Familiarity with Nexus Repository or similar artefact management platforms.
Knowledge of z/OS concepts, JCL and batch scheduling.
Strong REST API design and integration, automation orchestration and resilience.

Responsibilities

Design and develop robust, production-grade automation across IBM Z and distributed platforms.
Build and maintain enterprise automation workflows using Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Jenkins (Groovy).
Integrate automation across IBM Z, z/OS and distributed environments, including batch processing.
Design REST API integrations and enterprise service interfaces.
Develop Grafana dashboards and integrate monitoring/observability platforms (e.g., Splunk).
Manage artefact repositories (Nexus) and secure secrets with Vault.
