Job summary

Hippo is a rapidly growing AI-enabled digital consultancy seeking a Lead Design Consultant to shape user strategy, maintain design standards, and drive user-centred outcomes on complex programs. You will mentor designers, lead design across engagements, and influence client directions with data-driven methods in agile environments.

Based in the UK with Leeds HQ, some travel to client sites may be required. You will work on transforming public and private sector services, embedding AI into design

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading design across complex delivery environments.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams using user-centred design throughout the product/service lifecycle.
• Ability to translate complex concepts into clear design direction in technical contexts.
• Strong consultancy and leadership skills to influence client decisions.
• Experience implementing AI tools/workflows to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design on complex client engagements with a user-centred approach across projects.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders using data and design methods to shape service direction.
• Lead teams to design products/services meeting diverse user needs and adhere to standards.
• Contribute to Hippo's design practice, especially with AI-driven changes in agile delivery.
• Mentor Intermediate and Senior designers and support growth within the team.
• Support business growth by contributing to bids and client value through user-centred design.
