Job summary

Terex GB Ltd in Campsie, Northern Ireland, is seeking a Design Engineer to develop new products and modify existing ones. You will work under the Green-tec line, report to the Product Manager, and be based at the Campsie site.

You will design using CREO CAD, follow Group standards for QFD and FMEA, and collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to optimize cost and performance. A degree in engineering and strong English communication are required.

Qualifications

  • Degree educated in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD; CREO preferred.
  • Strong technical English communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with cross-functional teams and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineered solutions for new product development and modifications.
  • Follow Group standards in QFD, FMEA, DFM, prototyping and field testing.
  • Comply with Group engineering standards and IT systems for data management.
  • Ensure products meet safety, function and reliability standards.
  • Reduce manufacturing cost through design improvements and supplier collaboration.
  • Address customer complaints promptly and address technical queries.

Design Engineer (Green-tec)

Green-tec manufacture and engineer vegetation and tree care solutions. With a robust range of chippers, trommels, shredders, dedicated tree care handlers, tracker mulchers and mulching heads. We have an exciting roadmap ahead for new products, services, production capacity and business expansion, and as a result we are expanding our team. We currently have an opportunity for a Design Engineer who will report to the Green-tec Product Manager and will be based at Campsie manufacturing sites.

About the Role
  • Provide engineered solutions for the development of new products and modifications to existing products
  • Follow Group standards of in the areas of QFD, FMEA, design-for-manufacture, prototype development and field testing
  • Follow Group engineering standards and associated IT systems, to ensure effective global management of released engineering data
  • Ensure current and new products meet standards and performance levels specified for safety, function and reliability
  • Reduce manufacturing cost through improved design and consultation with the production department, purchasing and suppliers
  • To investigate and address Customer Complaints in a timely manner
  • Stay knowledgeable of machine component advancements and competitor design trends; apply latest technology to new and existing designs where appropriate to stay current and innovative
  • Support aftersales and helpdesk team with answering technical queries from dealers
About you
  • Degree educated or equivalent in Engineering, ideally with design experience in this or a similar industry
  • Competent user of 3D Solid Modeling CAD, ideally CREO, and familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems
  • Good technical expertise in mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • A good understanding of the various applications that the equipment can operate in along with an appreciation for the expected performance of the machines
  • Creativity and innovative thinking
  • Good English communication skill, both written and spoken
  • A 'Can do' attitude and ability to interact with a multi-functional team
  • Ability to work with others to meet deadlines
  • Able to assess workload and commit to realistic timelines
  • Able to select from multiple design alternatives when a clear best choice is not evident
  • Can identify risks both technical and commercial with proposed product change or new product
