Job summary

Rightmove is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering & Infrastructure team in London. You will own the data platform infrastructure, tooling, and practices that power Rightmove’s data ecosystem, leveraging a modern GCP stack.

You will write robust Python and SQL, deploy infrastructure with Terraform, and influence standards across the team while working in a hybrid setup with two days in the office each week.

Qualifications

• Strong Python and SQL engineer with solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with GCP and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Experience designing, building, and operating production-grade data pipelines at scale.
• Familiarity with data modelling and data storage best practices (e.g. dbt).

Responsibilities

• Define the technical approach to complex data challenges and set architectural direction.
• Lead end-to-end cross-functional data projects from requirements to delivery.
• Design and build data platform infrastructure and internal tooling.
• Own batch and real-time data ingestion and processing frameworks.
• Manage infrastructure, security and deployments with Terraform and CI/CD.
• Improve performance, scalability and cost efficiency of the data platform.
• Promote engineering best practices, testing, documentation, and observability.
• Enable self-service data workflows for engineers, data scientists and analytics teams.
