Job summary

Rightmove is seeking a Senior Data Engineer II to shape the data platform powering the UK’s largest property marketplace. You’ll blend deep technical leadership with strategic thinking to build scalable data infrastructure and influence data engineering practices across the company.

You will drive AI-assisted data engineering, collaborating with Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, ML Engineers and product teams to deliver robust data capabilities.

Qualifications

• Significant technical leadership in data engineering or data platform engineering roles.
• Strong architectural expertise across modern data & AI platforms, including ingestion, processing, storage, and transformation.
• Experience transitioning to AI-native Data Engineering landscapes and driving adoption of AI-powered workflows.
• Proficient in Python and SQL with dbt, Spark, and Terraform; familiarity with GCP, IaC and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of Rightmove's data platform to support long-term scalability, reliability and performance.
• Own architecture, design, and build of shared data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and processing capabilities.
• Drive the integration strategy across dbt, Spark, and Beam.
• Lead deployment standards for data quality, observability, security and testing.
• Partner with Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, ML Engineers and product teams to solve real-world problems.
• Evaluate new technologies and AI-powered workflows to modernize data engineering practices.
• Contribute to the data platform roadmap and future investment decisions.
• Mentor engineers and grow the team’s technical capability.
