Job summary

Derby City Council is seeking a Senior Analyst to turn SEND, education and health data into clear insight. You will create dashboards, produce statutory returns and support decision-making for managers and senior leaders across SEND, inclusion and related services.

The role involves extracting data from multiple systems, combining datasets to provide meaningful insights, and presenting findings to senior stakeholders. Hybrid working is available within the Council House location.

Qualifications

• Experience in a management information, performance or BI environment.
• Experience producing performance and management information for managers and senior leaders.
• Strong analytical skills to identify and explain complex data.
• Experience extracting and manipulating data from various databases/systems.
• Experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar BI tools.
• Knowledge of statistical techniques and their practical application.
• Ability to produce clear, concise reports and presentations for varied audiences.
• Strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues with different data/analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, accessible analysis and insight across SEND, inclusion and related services.
• Work with managers and senior leaders to understand performance and trends.
• Extract, transform and analyse complex datasets from multiple systems.
• Develop and maintain reports and interactive dashboards using Power BI and other BI tools.
• Use SSMS to extract and interrogate data.
• Complete statutory data returns (SEND2, Alternative Provision Census, CLD returns).
• Improve data quality by identifying issues and supporting corrective action.
• Combine data from SEND, education, children’s and adults’ services to provide insights.
• Produce concise reports, presentations and briefings for senior managers.
• Support strategic projects through robust analysis and evidence.
• Deputise for senior colleagues as appropriate.
