Job summary

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking a Lead Data Analyst to provide analytical leadership and support to Education and Children's Services. You will lead a small team of analysts, developing reporting, MI and insight to drive service improvement and transformation.

The role focuses on Power BI dashboards, data quality, governance and performance management, with the chance to influence decisions in a large local government environment. Hybrid and flexible working options are available.

Qualifications

• Significant experience of data analysis, business intelligence and performance reporting, with a proven ability to turn complex data into meaningful insight.
• Experience of leading and developing analytical teams, providing support, direction and quality assurance across multiple workstreams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to work effectively with senior managers and service leaders
• Experience of developing and delivering reporting and dashboard solutions using tools such as Power BI, SQL and related analytical technologies
• Experience of leading data quality, data governance and business intelligence improvement initiatives, helping organisations move from spreadsheet-based reporting to trusted, data-driven decision making
• Experience of education, children's services, SEND or wider local government data would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of analysts, providing direction, support and quality assurance across analytical and reporting activity
• Develop and deliver high-quality management information, performance reporting and insight to support decision making across Education and Children's Services
• Lead the design and implementation of Power BI dashboards and business intelligence solutions
• Work with senior managers and service leaders to identify analytical requirements and translate these into actionable insight and data products
• Support inspection readiness, statutory reporting and performance management through the provision of robust and reliable data and analysis
• Lead improvements in data quality, data governance and reporting processes, helping services move away from spreadsheet based reporting towards trusted, sustainable and data-driven decision making, while supporting delivery of the Council's Data Strategy and Digital & Data Transformation Programme
