Job summary

Burson, part of WPP, seeks an experienced data engineering lead to architect and deliver scalable data pipelines powering communications measurement. Based in London with hybrid work, you will translate product vision into robust data services and BI capabilities.

You will work closely with Product Owners in an Agile Jira environment, shaping platform evolution, and ensuring production readiness with strict governance and cost controls.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience designing, building, and operating production data platforms.
• Strong Python and SQL with clean OO design and REST API integrations.
• Hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure ecosystem and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and improve code quality.
• Familiarity with NoSQL, Parquet and AI enrichment frameworks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design, architectural standards, and delivery of data pipelines and platform components.
• Collaborate with Product Owners in an Agile Jira environment to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Develop and maintain production-grade Python services and SQL transformation layers.
• Optimize pipeline performance, reliability, and cost, with robust monitoring and incident response.
• Enhance analyst-facing configuration layers to streamline setup for non-technical users.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage technical debt while improving documentation and runbooks.
