Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Senior to Associate Electrical Engineer for the Data Centre sector in Glasgow or Edinburgh. The role focuses on developing electrical distribution designs from EHV to LV, leading data centre electrical projects and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

You will engage with clients, prepare technical reports and specifications, and monitor installations to ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

Chartered status or working towards Chartered status with CIBSE or IET, or equivalent experience.
Technical knowledge of UK and EU regulations and design guides.
IT literate with knowledge of IT packages such as Trimble (formerly Amtech).
Understanding of ETAP for HV modelling (fault current, current flow, harmonics).
Understanding of Neher-McGrath for underground cable temperatures & ampacity.
Understanding of Uptime Institute, TIA942 and EN50600 tier classifications.
Ability to lead and mentor others within a team.
Experience with RevitMEP and AutoCAD for project work.
Eligibility for UK Security Check (SC).
Experience with large power distribution systems (11kV).
Electrical building load assessments experience.
Standby generation and UPS systems knowledge.
Fire/voice alarm and security systems.
Data centres and financial services environments knowledge.
Lighting design experience (internal/external).
Experience with lifts and CHP plants.

Responsibilities

Support the team in developing conceptual designs for electrical distribution from EHV to LV including high voltage equipment and UPS.
Provide guidance to clients on electrical system options to meet business needs.
Lead the design of data centre electrical systems and equipment.
Produce design development notes and written reports of system options.
Create technical specifications for electrical systems ensuring standards and client requirements.
Coordinate with architects and structural engineers.
Produce calculations and tender documentation.
Monitor installation to ensure compliance with specifications and safety codes.
Engage with clients in technical discussions to agree requirements.
Work both independently and as part of the WSP global project team.
