Job summary

The Princess Grace Hospital in London is seeking a Senior Sterile Services Technician to join the CSSD team. This full-time role (37.5 hours per week) requires leading tasks across washing, inspection, packing and sterilisation, and supporting theatres with sterile instruments and supplies to ensure patient care excellence.

You’ll mentor junior staff, uphold infection prevention standards and quality management systems, and participate in audits and continuous improvement to maintain the highest

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a sterile services technician, ideally in a senior role.
• Knowledge of infection control requirements in relation to patient care and medical devices.
• Understanding of QMS in a healthcare setting.
• Experience attending and preparing for external audits.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day‑to‑day management of washing, inspection, packing, and sterilisation areas; take charge out of hours/weekends
• Apply standards to reprocessing of invasive devices (disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, inspection, assembly, sterilisation, despatch, tracking) and ensure adherence to SOPs and quality management systems
• Lead and support shift teams, mentor technicians/apprentices, conduct inductions, and provide ongoing training
• Investigate complaints, non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and implement corrective actions
• Complete hand‑overs, respond to staff/clinical queries, and participate in departmental meetings
• Conduct regular checks on equipment performance, stock, and QC procedures; elevate issues as needed
• Work with clinical nurse specialists, department heads, and ward representatives to select appropriate reusable devices
