Job summary

Practice Plus Group in Plymouth is recruiting for a Sterile Services Technician to support the Sterile Services Department Lead in delivering a safe, decontaminated and sterile supplies service to hospital departments. You will handle cleaning, packing, assembling, sterilising and distributing medical devices and work with the team to maintain high standards of patient care.

The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with Monday to Friday shifts and one Saturday in three.

Qualifications

• Experience in sterile services and decontamination processes.
• Knowledge of health and safety guidelines (PPE) and COSHH.
• Ability to work to prescribed standards to minimise risk.

Responsibilities

• Prepare medical devices to be used, including cleaning, packing, assembling, sterilising and distribution.
• Support Sterile Services Department Lead and Theatre Manager in delivering a safe and effective service.
• Collaborate with other departments as required to ensure coverage on shift.

In keeping with our expansion plans at our Plymouth based hospital, we are soon to be launching our Sterile Services (CSSD) department enabling us to deliver an ever more swifter service to our patients.

We have a brand new position available for a Sterile Services Technician to support the Sterile Services Department Leadin ensuring a continuously compliant, safe and effective decontamination and sterile supplies service.

This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week

Working Monday to Friday – with 1 Saturday shifts in 3

Hours based on two shift patterns;

Early - 07:30 - 15:30

Late - 11:00 - 19:00

What you'll be doing

ASterile Services Technicianis required to be a vital member of the team, working to support the Sterile Services Department Lead and Theatre Manager in the provision of a safe and effective decontamination and sterile supplies service to the required departments within our hospital.

You’ll be ensuring that every medical device is prepared fit for the purpose prior to patient use and undertaking tasks involved with the decontamination process i.e. cleaning, checking, packing, assembling, sterilising and distribution of medical devices.

What we’ll look for in you

We see the appointed Sterile Services Technician possessing the following attributes;

• Being able to competently prioritise workload and meet work to deadlines
• Having the ability to lead and support Technicians ensuring all areas of the department is covered on shift
• Confidence to competently communicate with other departments where necessary
• Highlight and report breakdowns in a timely manner
• To ultimately support the Decontamination Manager as required
