Job summary

Lawes Consulting Group is recruiting a Commercial Development Underwriter for a remote-based role covering the Hampshire to Dorset region. You will underwrite SME and mid-market commercial business across property and liability, renewals, endorsements, and make sound decisions within authority levels.

You will develop broker relationships, manage your portfolio autonomously, and travel to meet brokers when required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in commercial underwriting.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting processes and practices.
• Experience underwriting SME and/or mid-market risks.
• Ability to analyse risks and make informed decisions.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills; able to work autonomously remotely.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new SME and mid-market commercial business across property and liability.
• Assess renewals, adjustments and endorsements.
• Make sound underwriting decisions within authority levels.
• Manage workload and ensure timely processing of transactions.
• Build and maintain relationships with key brokers.
• Collaborate with internal teams to find effective solutions.
