Job summary

Lawes Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Underwriter to join a high-performing underwriting team in the UK. You will own a diverse cross-class portfolio, manage key broker relationships, and act as a technical referral point for the team, handling larger, more complex risks.

You will be expected to underwrite mid-market and complex risks across multiple classes, develop broker networks to grow income, and contribute to team targets.

Qualifications

• Solid commercial underwriting experience across multiple classes.
• Strong knowledge of the UK commercial insurance market and broker landscape.
• Proven ability to manage and develop broker relationships at a senior level.
• Track record of delivering against financial targets.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite a range of mid-market and complex commercial risks across multiple classes of business.
• Build and actively develop a panel of broker relationships, growing income and maximising retention.
• Act as a referral point and technical resource for colleagues on complex or high-value cases.
• Collaborate closely with the underwriting team on large, multi-line accounts.
• Work towards and contribute to both personal and team new business targets.
• Represent the business at broker events, networking functions, and industry forums.
