Job summary

Schindler Ltd in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial performance of new installation projects. You will lead contract management, cost forecasting and risk controls across a portfolio of live schemes, partnering with project teams to maximise profitability and cash flow.

You will negotiate with customers and subcontractors, prepare interim/final accounts and drive value through procurement and variations while ensuring compliance with health and safety

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent commercial discipline.
• Proven experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor level in construction, building services, engineering, infrastructure or maintenance.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and complex commercial programmes.
• Strong knowledge of contract management, commercial administration and risk management principles.
• Proven experience preparing and negotiating applications for payment, variations, claims and final accounts.
• Experience forecasting project costs and managing commercial performance against budget.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes and subcontractor management.
• Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract.
• Understanding of CDM regulations and health and safety requirements.
• Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Managing customer and subcontractor contracts throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring contractual obligations are met and commercial risks are effectively managed
• Leading commercial negotiations with customers, subcontractors and key stakeholders
• Preparing, submitting and agreeing interim and final accounts, while supporting timely payment and cash collection
• Identifying, valuing and negotiating contract variations, compensation events, claims and commercial opportunities
• Monitoring, forecasting and reporting project costs, performance and commercial outcomes
• Maintaining commercial risk and opportunity registers and implementing strategies to protect project profitability
• Working closely with project and operational teams to improve financial performance, control costs and support successful project delivery
• Managing commercial aspects of procurement and subcontractor performance
• Issuing contractual notices and maintaining accurate commercial and contractual records
• Supporting value engineering initiatives and identifying opportunities to maximise project returns
• Ensuring compliance with contractual, legal and company governance requirements
• Providing commercial support, advice and guidance to operational teams throughout project delivery
• Supporting continuous improvement across commercial processes, systems and reporting
• Providing information and documentation required for audits and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements
