Job summary

Westlakes Recruit is supporting a leading organisation in Reading to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager for major M&E engineering and infrastructure projects. The role focuses on commercial leadership across the project lifecycle, handling NEC3/NEC4 contracts, change control, and cost management while working with project and procurement teams.

The successful candidate will have experience across M&E, engineering, construction or regulated environments, strong stakeholder management, and

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Membership of RICS, CICES or equivalent professional body advantageous.
• Security vetting may be required; must meet eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial management of major M&E and engineering projects from tender to completion.
• Manage NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including contractual compliance, change management and commercial reporting.
• Manage mechanical and electrical subcontract packages and supplier relationships.
• Review compensation events, early warnings, variations and change control.
• Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
• Lead tendering activities, commercial evaluations and contract negotiations.
• Review subcontractor applications, valuations, payments and final accounts.
• Provide commercial advice to Project Managers, Engineers and senior stakeholders.
• Work closely with engineering teams to understand technical scope, programme requirements and commercial implications.
