Job summary

Westlakes Recruit is seeking a Project Director to lead major Electrical, Instrumentation and Mechanical projects across regulated sectors in the UK. You will own safety, quality, programme and commercial performance from tender handover to commissioning and handover.

The role requires senior leadership, strong financial acumen and the ability to manage diverse project teams, regulators and key stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading large, complex Electrical, Instrumentation and Mechanical projects from concept through commissioning and handover.
• Experience in Nuclear, Power, Energy, Water, Pharmaceutical or Industrial Manufacturing sectors.
• Proven track record leading multidisciplinary teams across engineering, construction, commissioning, commercial, planning and quality.
• Strong knowledge of E&I and mechanical installation, testing and commissioning.
• Experience managing major budgets, cash flow, profitability, risk and change.
• Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC or similar contracts.
• Experience handling client relationships, variations, claims and negotiations.
• Strong governance, programme controls, reporting and performance management understanding.
• Commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental and Wellbeing performance.
• Experience mentoring future leaders and building high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with clients and regulators.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to large, multidisciplinary project teams.
• Own accountability for HSEQ, programme, commercial performance and delivery.
• Lead mobilisation, execution, commissioning and close-out of projects.
• Manage budgets, cash flow, profitability and forecasting.
• Develop commercial strategies and manage contractual obligations.
• Oversee change control, variations, claims and dispute avoidance.
• Establish governance, reporting and risk management processes.
• Ensure safety, quality and engineering assurance across activities.
• Build senior relationships with clients, regulators and supply chain partners.
• Drive performance reviews and continuous improvement across the project lifecycle.
