Job summary

Westlakes Recruit is supporting a major organisation in Reading to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager. The role focuses on commercial leadership across large M&E and infrastructure projects, coordinating with project, engineering and procurement teams throughout the lifecycle.

The successful candidate will have NEC3/NEC4 contracts experience, a background in commercial management across M&E or infrastructure, and a track record of handling high-value projects and complex subcontract

Qualifications

• Experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts and change management.
• Strong commercial management across M&E, engineering or infrastructure.
• Experience managing high-value projects and subcontract packages.
• Excellent forecasting, cost management and risk identification.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial management of major M&E and engineering projects from tender through completion.
• Manage NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including compliance, change control and reporting.
• Oversee mechanical and electrical subcontract packages and supplier relationships.
• Review compensation events, early warnings, variations and change control.
• Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
• Lead tendering, commercial evaluations and contract negotiations.
• Review subcontractor applications, valuations, payments and final accounts.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and implement mitigation strategies.
• Provide commercial advice to Project Managers, Engineers and senior stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to understand scope, programme and commercial implications.
