Job summary

Cedar in London requires a senior Head of Commercial to lead the commercial function for major infrastructure and M&E projects. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery to drive performance across projects and mentor a high-performing team.

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership in Commercial/QS roles, strong NEC and contract law knowledge, and experience delivering Tier 1 infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction or a related discipline.
• Professional membership such as MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent.
• Experience leading a Commercial/QS team on large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and construction law.
• Experience managing commercial teams and developing high-performing professionals.

Responsibilities

• Leading, developing and mentoring a high-performing Commercial/QS team.
• Setting and delivering the overall commercial strategy.
• Providing senior oversight of commercial risk, governance and performance.
• Leading contract negotiations, administration and compliance under NEC forms.
• Supporting work-winning, bids and tendering activities.
• Driving accurate forecasting, cost control and commercial reporting.
• Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Driving commercial best practices and continuous improvement across the business.
• Providing senior commercial leadership across M&E-related works.
