Job summary

Sword Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to own operational health of public and hybrid cloud services across customer environments.

You will work across cloud platforms, governance, security, automation and observability, focusing on resilience and continual improvement.

The role requires 5+ years in enterprise IT operations with production cloud experience and strong incident management skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in enterprise IT operations and production cloud services.
• Experience with public/private/hybrid cloud architectures and governance.
• Knowledge of incident management, security and compliance controls.

Responsibilities

• Own the operational health, reliability, security and continual improvement of customer public cloud and hybrid cloud services.
• Operate and maintain services across major public cloud platforms, including compute, storage, networking, identity, security, monitoring, backup and recovery.
• Support hybrid cloud environments connecting public cloud with on-premises datacentres, private cloud, edge locations and legacy systems.
• Manage technical dependencies across cloud platforms, virtualization, operating systems, networks, identities, databases and applications.
• Apply and improve cloud governance controls, including policy, access management, configuration standards, compliance monitoring, resource classification and cost oversight.
• Develop and maintain automation and infrastructure-as-code for deployment, configuration, validation, remediation, reporting and recurring operational tasks.
• Act as the senior escalation point for complex incidents, performance issues and service failures spanning cloud and hybrid environments.
• Identify root causes, recurring failures, configuration drift, capacity constraints and technical debt; drive corrective and preventative actions.
• Plan and implement controlled platform changes with security, resilience, interoperability, performance and supportability in mind.
• Support onboarding and service transition by ensuring environments are documented, observable, recoverable, governed and ready for live managed service operation, with technical leadership and mentoring across the team.
