Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure Team! Based in our Biggin Hill office during Race Events, this role ensures that Formula 1’s Cloud and Kubernetes Systems are correctly designed, maintained, and developed to meet the ongoing Business and Production objectives of Formula 1.

Reporting to the Cloud Architect, you will:

• Build, maintain, develop, and support F1’s enterprise cloud platforms.
• Build, maintain, develop, and support F1’s enterprise Kubernetes platforms both in the cloud and on-premises.
• Serve as a senior stakeholder within the team and projects, providing guidance, best practices, and solutions.
• Work closely with Formula 1’s Information Security team to ensure governance and security compliance.
• Support the Formula 1 Grand Prix events remotely from the Media & Technology Centre in Biggin Hill, managing on-premises Kubernetes platforms and cloud systems.
• Utilize Terraform to design and provision infrastructure as code for scalable deployment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Build and maintain multi-site, hybrid Kubernetes platforms with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to optimize cloud system architectures.
• Be available to work outside usual business hours for planned or unplanned work.
• Work closely with the DevOps team to meet strategic objectives and streamline system delivery.

Essential Skills & Technical Responsibilities:

• Perform well under time-sensitive situations.
• Adaptability to changing tasks.
• Excellent communication and willingness to learn.
• Minimum 7 years of IT experience.
• At least 4 years of AWS experience working with security groups, VPCs, EKS, EC2, IAM, Route53, and S3.
• Knowledge of AWS Cloud networking (Direct Connect, VPCs, Transit Gateways).
• Experience as a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer.
• Understanding of low-level compute architectures such as CPU, memory, and storage.
