They will also be exposed to a range of complex venous pathologies including vascular malformations, thoracic outlet syndrome, nutcracker syndrome as well as open venous bypass surgery. The post would be ideal for doctors working towards a consultant level appointment (as a post-CCT fellowship or within 6 months of completion) who would like to broaden their expertise. Although the applicant will be expected to predominantly support the Deep Venous Service, they will also be exposed to the full range of complex tertiary services provided by the department through support of emergency work.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Venous Multidisciplinary Team and Guys and St. Thomas NHS Foundation Trust. He/she will be exposed to a wide variety of Venous procedures, both open and endovascular (inclusive of treatment of the deep and superficial system). The applicant is expected to demonstrate interest in and lead the potential research opportunities in the field of venous disease in particular the treatment of acute DVT and Post Thrombotic Syndrome. Clinical areas covered will mainly include theatres, wards, vascular high dependency intensive overnight recovery unit and outpatients. Participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care. Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
