Main duties of the job

• Provide, in collaboration with clinical colleagues, a comprehensive cardiothoracic service to patients from Coventry, Warwickshire, and beyond, ensuring all patient-related activities are efficient and aligned with risk management and clinical governance principles.
• Ensure all ward patients are seen regularly, making decisions on day-to-day clinical management.
• Participate in ITU rounds, ensuring relevant treatments and investigations are communicated and executed.
• Assist Consultants and Senior Specialist Registrars in the operating theatre, and where appropriate, perform operations or parts thereof as the primary operator.
• Support on-call duties, including ward and ITU rounds, and complete appropriate investigations and treatments. The post holder will be resident on call with support from a Senior House Officer during daytime hours.
