Job description

Senior Clinical Fellow in Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery

Applications are invited for a fixed-term (12-month) post- or peri-CCT Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery, accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England, at Royal Derby Hospital, starting in October 2026. This role offers an excellent opportunity for post or peri-CCT trainees to develop skills in Bariatric surgery. The appointee will be involved in managing the bariatric unit and supporting the multidisciplinary team, including Consultants, Nurses, Dieticians, and patient coordinators.

The Department provides a range of bariatric services for Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Lincolnshire, offering various procedures within a multidisciplinary setting. The successful candidate will participate in theatre lists, run independent follow-up clinics, support outpatient clinics, and have opportunities in endoscopy. The role involves providing cover for emergencies during daytime hours and participating in academic activities, including research and teaching.

Applicants must hold MBBS or equivalent, FRCS or equivalent, and be within 12 months of CCT. A higher degree (MD or PhD) is preferred. Proficiency in laparoscopic procedures and suturing skills is required.
